02 / SALT FROM LAKES & FLATS

Lake salt.

Our category for salt from saline lakes, salt flats and their brines. [1]

A different body of water

The USGS discusses saline lakes, playas and salt flats as related saline environments. In this directory, those sources are grouped separately from seawater and natural spring or well brine. [1]

From brine to crystals

Morton describes concentrating water from an ocean or salt lake in ponds, then moving the brine into crystallizing ponds. A shared evaporation method does not make the two water sources the same. [2]

Producer profiles to come.

We have not published a producer profile in this category yet. This is a gap in our directory, not evidence that no producers exist.
