THE PLACE
Salt with an address.
This is sea-salt production, despite the lake name. [1]
THE METHOD
How the salt is made.
Seawater concentrates in the main lake and successive ponds before entering crystallisers. Machinery harvests the salt crust, which is washed in brine and stockpiled. The site also has refining operations; the operator describes re-washing, crushing, drying and screening. The operator also describes a separate evaporation step for its flaky sea salt. [1] [2]

- This profile describes the Grassmere site, not the origin of every Dominion Salt product or batch.
- Public site access and tours are unconfirmed; views from a road do not imply permission to enter.
- Flaky salt has an additional evaporation step; the full factory process is not established in this profile.
- The product list covers solar-harvested salt, including subsequent refining; it is not a complete inventory of refinery outputs.
